What is Samsung Pay?

Samsung Pay allows you to make purchases using contactless & digital payment technology and unique security features built right into the devices you have with you every day. So you can use your mobile wallet to pay in a simple, secure, and private way.

Is there a cost?

No. Samsung Pay is a free service.

Is Samsung Pay secure?

Yes. Samsung Pay is secure because it processes transactions through a tokenization service. This service replaces a card’s primary account number with a random numerical sequence unique to a specific device, merchant, transaction type or channel.

Actual account numbers are not stored on the device, or on mobile servers, and cashiers will no longer see your name, credit card number or card security code, helping to reduce potential fraud.

What devices are compatible?

You can use Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung S6 edge, S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note5.

What cards are eligible?

We allow personal, business and health savings debit cards to be used with Samsung Pay.

How do I add my United Community Bank cards to Samsung Pay?

Consumers will create a Samsung account and add a fingerprint and backup PIN to the device Settings. They can use the phone’s camera to scan the card information, or enter it manually and then the account is secured with a fingerprint and backup PIN. For more information on adding your card, visit the Samsung Simulator.

Will I need to verify my card with United Community Bank when I add it to Samsung Pay?

For security purposes, you may be prompted to call United Community Bank during normal business hours.

What is the purchase experience for cardholders?

At a store, consumers pay by swiping up from the bottom of their screen to launch Samsung Pay, then securing the transaction with fingerprint authentication, and then holding their device close to the POS terminal. The device screen will indicate that signal is being transmitted and will instruct the consumer to hold the device near the terminal. The app will automatically recognize if the payment terminal is NFC contactless enabled or magnetic stripe. A gentle vibration will confirm the payment has been made.

Where can I use Samsung Pay?

Consumers can use Samsung Pay virtually anywhere you can swipe or tap your card.

How can I configure Simple Pay for Samsung?

From the Home screen, touch Apps, Samsung Pay, More, Settings, Edit Simple Pay and unmark a checkbox to remove a card from displaying Simple Pay.

What happens if my card is lost or stolen?

If your debit card has been lost or stolen, it is important that you report the missing card immediately. Assistance is a phone call away.

If your card is lost or stolen during normal business hours, contact your local bank office as soon as possible or call 706-439-6600 and ask for the Debit Card Department.

After hours, call 706-439-6600 then follow the prompts to be directed to the card center in order to report and block your lost or stolen card. Then, contact your local branch on the next business day to order a replacement card.

Immediate reporting ensures potential losses will be kept to a minimum.

You will no longer be able to use your card within Samsung Pay, so you should also remove the card. When you receive your new card, you will need to re-add the new card.

How do I remove a card from Samsung Pay?

To remove a card from Android, select Samsung Pay. Next, touch the card you want to remove and select 'More.' Then, simply touch 'Delete Card.' You will need to confirm by selecting 'Delete.' Confirm the card deletion again with your fingerprint or by touching PIN and entering the four-digit code.
