It's easy to forget to record a check or debit card transaction. Because of this, we offer courtesy overdraft service1 which may help you avoid an embarrassing situation. You'll also avoid added fees such as returned merchant check and late fees.
No application is necessary and you ONLY pay for the service if you use it. When you open a qualifying personal checking account you will be notified when your account becomes eligible for courtesy overdraft service.
This service will only cover transactions such as checks and ACH debits – not ATM or debit card transactions. If you would like courtesy overdraft service for your ATM/debit card transactions, please agree to the terms below.

1 United Community Bank may pay overdrafts at our discretion and reserves the right to terminate this service at any time. You are required to pay a $36 overdraft fee for each overdraft transaction that is paid by the bank. The maximum charge per day will be eight fees ($36 per fee). Items not paid will be returned and you will incur a $36 non-sufficient funds (NSF) fee. Overdraft service applies to checks, pre-authorized electronic debits and online banking and bill payment transactions. Additionally, ATM withdrawals and one-time debit card transactions are covered if you choose to opt in to this service for those transactions. Reimbursement of overdraft coverage payments must me made promptly by making a deposit in your account. Overdraft items are generally not covered for accounts that are not in good standing, do not have regular deposits, or those with excessive overdrafts.
