What is Apple Pay?

Apple Pay allows you to make purchases using contactless payment technology and unique security features built right into the devices you have with you every day. So you can use your iPhone®, Apple Watch®, or iPad® to pay in a simple, secure, and private way.

Is there a cost?

It is completely free to enroll your card in Apple Pay. 

Is Apple Pay secure?

Yes, Apple Pay is completely secure. When you use Apple Pay for purchases, your actual debit card number is not sent to merchants, but rather a random numerical sequence unique to a specific device, merchant, and transaction type.

What devices are compatible?

Apple Pay is available using the iPhone 6® and 6+®, iPad Air 2® and Mini 3® and Apple Watch®.

What cards are eligible?

Our personal, business, and health savings debit cards can be used with Apple Pay.

How do I add my United Community Bank card(s) to Apple Pay?

To add your United Community Bank debit card(s), go to Wallet & Apple Pay (located in Settings) on your device. Simply follow the steps listed to add your new card. Once your card is verified, tap ‘Next’ and start shopping.

Will I need to verify my card with United Community Bank when I add it to Apple Pay?

You may be prompted to call United Community Bank during normal business hours to verify your information to enable your card for Apple Pay.

How do I use Apple Pay?

To use Apple Pay, your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus must be running the latest version of iOS software. To make purchases at a participating merchant, hold your device over the terminal and accept the charge with your fingerprint or passcode when prompted.

If you need to provide the last four digits of your card number when making a purchase, instead provide the last four digits of the device account number. Go to ‘Settings’ on your device and select Wallet & Apple Pay, tap your card, and then tap the  icon to see your Device Account Number. Some stores may ask for a signature or debit card PIN to complete your transaction.

Can I use Apple Pay for in-app purchases?

Yes, you can pay within apps when you see the Buy with Apply Pay button or Apple Pay as a payment option. To pay, tap the Buy with Apply Pay or Apple Pay button. Verify your billing, shipping, and contact information. Place your finger on Touch ID™ and once complete, you will see “Done” and a checkmark on the screen.

Can I change my default card in Apple Pay?

The first card you add to your Wallet automatically becomes your default card. This is the card that will automatically appear when you use Apple Pay. To change your default card, simply open settings and select Wallet & Apple Pay and choose a new card.

What happens if my card is lost or stolen?

If your debit card has been lost or stolen, it is important that you report it to us immediately.

If your card is lost or stolen during normal business hours, contact your local bank office as soon as possible or call 706-439-6600 and ask for the Debit Card Department.

After hours, call 706-439-6600 then follow the prompts to be directed to the card center in order to report and block your lost or stolen card. Contact your local branch the next business day to order a replacement card.

Immediate reporting ensures potential losses will be kept to a minimum.

You will no longer be able to use your card within Apple Pay, so be sure to remove the card from Apply Pay. When you receive your new card, you will need to add it to Apply Pay.
