Stimulus Payment Updates

On Thursday, March 11, the president signed a $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill. A portion of the funding is earmarked for a third round of Economic Impact Payments, or better known as stimulus payments. The IRS determines the eligibility, amount, timing and distribution of stimulus payments. Financial institutions, like United, do not play a role in this determination process. We will update this page with additional information as it becomes available. 
 

Stimulus payments will be distributed automatically, with no action required of most people. For the latest information on government stimulus payments, including the status of your payment, the IRS has published an online resource called "Get My Payment," which provides users with up-to-date status information on their payment. According to the IRS, the Get My Payment tool will be operational beginning Monday, March 15.

Receiving your payment

Eligible recipients will receive stimulus payments in one of the following ways:

Direct Deposit into your account

Payments may be deposited directly into the same account that was used in the previous round of the stimulus program, or the account associated with your 2019 tax return. The payment may appear in your transaction history with “IRS TREAS 310” or something similar. Log in to Online Banking or the United Mobile App to monitor your account and take care of everyday banking needs.

Check

Paper Check

If the IRS does not have your direct deposit account information on file from previous federal tax returns or your status as a non-filer, the US Treasury will mail you a check to the address on file from your prior year’s tax return.

What we're doing

We want to take the chance to reassure you that customer and employee health and wellbeing are of the utmost importance to us. We have taken steps in accordance with CDC guidelines to protect those who visit our branches. We remain open for business to continue serving your banking needs, however, due to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases, we are taking steps to protect our customers and employees.

 

Effective Monday, December 14, most United branches will temporarily shift to a drive-thru and appointment-only service model. For a list of the branches that will continue to offer lobby hours without needing to schedule an appointment, click here. We will re-evaluate conditions in mid-January and provide further updates then.

Enhanced cleaning procedures.

Door handles, countertops, pens and other high-touch items are cleaned regularly to help keep the branches disinfected. Increased availability of hand sanitizer dispensers in high traffic areas for easy access for both customers and employees.

Physical distance

Physically distancing.

To help practice safe physical distancing, we are clearly posting physical distancing expectations with signage and floor markers. We've also installed Plexiglass guards at teller stations and other desks and offices to help with physical distancing.

Employee health checks. 

Employees are encouraged to perform a daily WellCheck Health Screening before coming in to work. Employees who exhibit any symptoms are asked to stay home.

How you can help

We ask that you abide by the following guidelines if you visit a United branch. These standards were designed to protect those who enter our branches as we begin the reopening process and to ensure our branches remain a safe place for all members of our community.

Physically distance.

Practice physical distancing.

Please stay at least 6 feet apart from other customers and United employees at all times when in a United location.

Stay home if you're sick. 

If you're experiencing any potential COVID-19 symptoms, we ask that you do not enter a United branch.

Wear a mask. 

While we encourage wearing a mask, please be aware that you will be asked to visually identify yourself upon entering the branch for security reasons.

Practice good hygiene. 

Remember to wash or sanitize your hands before and after visiting a common area. 
Respect

Respect each other. 

Recognize that different people have different comfort levels in public in current conditions. Be respectful of each other's preferences and feedback.

As COVID-19 (coronavirus) continues to impact our community, we are continually assessing and adjusting our operations to safely reopen our branches. We do this in accordance with CDC guidelines and the health of our customers and our employees in mind.

Along with appointment-only lobby service, our dedicated staff is prepared to perform many common services in the drive-thru. We highly recommend taking advantage of our digital and remote banking resources whenever possible. However, certain services do require a visit to our lobby and for such situations, we are happy to book an appointment with you.

As the coverage of the coronavirus continues, those attempting to do harm are increasing their efforts in targeting individuals and organizations. There are active scam initiatives promising free products, virus cures and inaccurate borrowing claims. Also, watch out for communication from people or organizations claiming to be the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
