Q: Is Seaside National Bank & Trust combining with United Community Bank?
A: Yes! We are excited to let you know that as of July 1, 2020, Seaside and United Community Bank have officially joined forces. Together, we are committed to delivering the same personalized care you enjoy today, but with the added benefit of expanded services to meet your needs, goals and aspirations.
Q: Who is United Community Bank?
A: United Community Banks, Inc. is a $13.1 billion asset bank holding company that operates 149 banking offices located throughout north Georgia, metro Atlanta, coastal Georgia, western North Carolina, east Tennessee and South Carolina all branded as United Community Bank.
Formed in 1950 as Union County Bank, we have operated on the philosophy of providing exceptional banking service, while caring deeply for the communities we serve. This philosophy has fueled our growth from a $40 million bank a little more than three decades ago.
Our success comes from a strong, talented and experienced management team, as well as the dynamic growth markets they serve. Our local bank presidents have an average of 20 years in community banking experience, 90% of which has been in their local markets. The markets we serve represent some of the top growth areas in the U.S. in terms of population and income. United Community Bank is proud of our success, but even more proud of the tradition upon which our company was built - treating customers the way we want to be treated. Q: Why is my bank joining with United Community Bank?
A: Like Seaside, United Community Bank has always placed a tremendous focus on people, both employees and clients. United abides by the same philosophy upon which the bank was founded in 1950, which is simply to “treat clients and colleagues the way we want to be treated.”
Seaside lives by these same principles, and it is exciting to join our two excellent, relationship-centered teams together, bringing access to new services such as: mortgage and specialized business lending expertise including renewable energy financing, asset-based lending, new market tax credits and expanded SBA lending. Whether assisting you with your current services or discussing new ones, we are committed to continuing as the banking partner you have come to know and trust.
Q: What does this merger mean to me?
A: There will be no immediate effects for any Seaside clients. You should continue to conduct your banking as you normally do and you will continue to experience the same great service from the professionals you know and trust.
Q: When will the integration be complete?
A: We anticipate the full system integration to take place by February 2021. Our teams are working closely together to ensure a seamless transition for our clients. Should anything change with your account(s) or products you have at Seaside, we will notify you well in advance.
Q: Will my local banking office remain open?
A: Yes! There is no overlap of United Community Bank and Seaside Bank and Trust locations. You will continue to enjoy the same convenience and service from the team of professionals you know and trust, at the same locations.
Q: Will you continue to operate as Seaside National Bank & Trust?
A: As a result of the merger, “Seaside National Bank & Trust” will become “Seaside Bank and Trust.” Beyond that small change, our goal is to maintain the same exceptional client experience you know today at the same offices with the same professionals.
Q: Will the Seaside logo change?
A: Seaside is no longer a “National” bank so we are removing that from the name. As such, we have made slight adjustments to the logo. Over the next few months we will be replacing the old logo with the updated version.
Q: Do I need to do anything right now with my account(s)?
A: No, at this time there are no actions that need to be taken. You should continue to conduct your banking as you normally do. The United Community Bank and Seaside Bank and Trust teams are working diligently in the background to make this transition as smooth as possible. We will notify you in advance if any action is needed.
Q: Will I be notified of important changes impacting my accounts, including Online and Mobile Banking?
A: Yes, we are dedicated to you, our client, and we will communicate as frequently as possible throughout this transition. Any account, online and/or mobile banking changes that may impact you will be communicated well in advance of the change occurring.
Q. Will my accounts still be FDIC insured?
A: If you do not have any pre-existing accounts with United Community Bank, then there is no change to your FDIC insurance coverage. If you do have accounts at both United Community Bank and Seaside Bank and Trust, the FDIC provides continuing separate insurance coverage for at least six months following the legal close on July 1, 2020.
Q: What should I do if I have additional questions?
A: You are always welcome to call your Client Advisor or our main office at 407-567-2222 if you have any questions or concerns.
