United Community Bank Team to Honor Veterans Day through Grassroots Efforts and Donations Across their Communities
“As a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and Naval Reserve it is incredibly important to me that we all take the time to appreciate those who have served our country whether in active duty or as reservists,” said Rich Bradshaw, president and, chief banking officer for United Community Bank. “I am extremely proud of our team for organizing efforts across our footprint that will positively impact those who have sacrificed so much for our country.”
For the second year in a row, United Community Bank employees are encouraged to organize acts of service within their communities or participate in projects led by the Together for Good Council. In addition to the acts of service, the United Community Bank Foundation will be making a total of $25,000 in donations to local organizations that support veterans.
Local activities and donations are driven by team members across the bank’s service area and include:
South Carolina
- Donating to Operation Rehabilitation, One80 Place, Service Dogs for Veterans and Upstate Warrior Solution.
- Employees from Charleston and Mount Pleasant will team up with the Myrtle Beach team to pack and distribute care boxes to military boxes.
- United branches in Laurens and Greenwood are raising funds to pay for a veteran to go through a training program to train their own service dog.
- Donating to Smoky Mountain Service Dogs, Cheatham County Veterans Memorial Park, Building Lives Foundation Inc., Rutherford County Veteran Community Center and A Soldier’s Child.
- East Tennessee branches will collect supplies for Shoeboxes for Soldiers.
- Reliant branch employees will send letters to soldiers and each branch will send a care package to a soldier who is a bank client.
- Donating to Veterans Healing Farm.
- United branches in Cherokee will be handing out small gifts and personal thank you notes for Veterans.
- Donating to Operations Patriots FOB, Towns Union Habitat for Humanity, Fannin & Gilmer County Habitat for Humanity, Habitat for Humanity Coosa Valley, Habitat for Humanity NW Metro Atlanta and Habersham Wall of Honor Inc.
- United team in Ellijay is sponsoring a Veterans dinner with the local Rotary Club that will follow the Veterans Day parade and festivities.
- Fannin County High School choir will visit a Blue Ridge branch and sing songs in honor of Veteran’s Day.
- Donating to Wounded Warrior Project and Folds of Honor.
