Amanda Wilbanks

"As a small business owner, when you start out and you only have $400 that you want to put in an account, most people would laugh at you,” explains Southern Baked Pie Company owner, Amanda Wilbanks. “United Community Bank didn’t laugh, and that meant a lot to me.

Like many small businesses that rely on foot traffic, Amanda was nervous as shops closed in the Spring due to Coronavirus lockdowns. That’s when the United team got to work. Dawn Justus, Amanda’s banker, was able to facilitate a PPP loan to help keep the Southern Baked Pie Company’s workforce afloat.

“We talked a lot,” says Dawn. “By text, by phone, on the weekends – we wanted to get everything ready to go so that when the aid became available, we could get them the needed funds as quickly as possible.

With the PPP loan support, and some creative product marketing and delivery, the Southern Baked Pie Company team had an incredibly successful 2020.

United is proud to be a part of the Southern Baked Pie Company story and can’t wait to see where they go next!
