As a family-owned business of 75 years, Old Colony Furniture Company is rooted in the Greenville community. Old Colony’s owner, Edward Johnson, knew that working with a local bank would make a difference when trying to secure a PPP loan in 2020.
“You’re not calling a 1-800 number,” Edward says. “You’re texting someone you trust at the bank.”
As businesses rushed to submit PPP applications last year, timing and responsiveness made all the difference. Bryant Puntch, Commercial Relationship Manager, worked around the clock and kept the Old Colony team informed along the way.
"Old Colony reached out to see if United could help navigate through the PPP process,” Bryant explains. “We were able to secure the funding in their time of need. They were so appreciative of us stepping in that they moved their entire banking relationship to United."
Since then, Edward has been able to have United’s trusted advisors, including Branch Manager Michelle Galarza, help him review his business plans and discuss new, strategic ideas. “As long as I’m here, we’ll be using United for our banking needs,” Edward promises.
