United Community Bank is pleased to announce experienced lenders Mark Woods and Steve Brogdon have Mark-Woods.jpgjoined its growing SBA team. Woods and Brogdon are both Birmingham-area bankers and will continue to operate from that area, along with United’s senior care team, which has been based in Birmingham since they joined the bank in 2016. In addition to supporting potential borrowers within the region, Woods and Brogdon will work closely with the senior care team to capitalize on opportunities in that sector that are a good fit for SBA programs.

“I could not be more pleased to have such strong, experienced bankers partnering with the talented senior care team to provide a comprehensive suite of solutions to potential borrowers,” said Annemarie Murphy, President of United Community Bank’s SBA Division. “Mark and Steve are very invested in the small business community and have worked over the years to contribute to success of the local entrepreneurs. I look forward to their success.”

Woods joins United as a Senior Vice President/SBA Regional Executive where he will be responsible for oversight of the bank’s SBA development in the market. He has 10 years of banking and SBA experience. Woods is a native of Homewood, Alabama and has been on the city’s planning commission for more than 10 years, a position he was appointed to by the Mayor. He also coaches youth sports, volunteers with various cancer organizations and serves on the Board of Directors of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at the University of Alabama. Woods and his wife Nikki have two children, Ella and Andrew.

“This is the perfect time to bring United Community Bank’s SBA lending capabilities to Alabama,” said Woods. “As one of few PLP lenders in the state we are perfectly positioned to service our clients in ways that our Steve-Brogdon.jpgcompetitors have not been able to. The market needs a good bank that provides top-tier SBA lending and I see this as a great benefit to the small business community.”

Brogdon joins the team as a Business Development Officer for the SBA division. He has been a business professional for 25 years and worked in several industries before settling on a career in banking. As such, he is very familiar with needs and unique circumstances that surround many entrepreneurs. Brogdon is also a native of Homewood and is very active in the community. He and his wife Michelle have two daughters, Hayden and                                                             Ella.

“United Community Bank has become one of the strongest SBA teams in the country,” said Brogdon. “Helping small business owners achieve their dreams is what I most enjoy, and I look forward to assisting them with United Community Bank’s products and services.”
