United Community Bank Introduces Innovative Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs) in North Georgia

  • Posted on September 15, 2021
GREENVILLE, S.C. – September 15 – United Community Bank recently launched new, state-of-the-art Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs), branded as UCB ITMs, to provide enhanced customer convenience experiences at select locations across North Georgia and beyond. UCB ITMs combine the convenience of an ATM with the award-winning service delivered by the friendly, knowledgeable employees outside of the normal banking hours, as early as 8:00am and as late as 6:00pm. Customers can use UCB ITMs to deposit cash, cash checks, make loan payments, withdraw cash, and many other banking transactions. The pilot program includes locations in Blairsville, Blue Ridge, Hiawassee, Clayton, and 11 other locations in Georgia, Tennessee and the Carolinas.

“We are always striving to improve our customers’ banking experience to meets their needs, and the addition of UCB ITMs is another way we can provide quick, personal service with more convenient hours,” said Jack Keener, State President- North Georgia and Tennessee. “Providing the opportunity to speak directly with one of our bankers outside of normal business hours is a game changer. This not only allows customers using UCB ITMs to make transactions more conveniently, but it also frees time and space for our bankers inside the branch—allowing them to give greater attention to customers completing transactions that require more care. We are very excited about the positive changes that will come as a result of this advanced technology.”

All UCB ITMs are drive-up machines with most located in the parking lot next to the main branch. Upon approaching the ITM, customers have the option of conducting a normal ATM transaction or touching the screen to be greeted by a virtual teller that will assist them with their transactions.  Customers who wish to enter the branch or use a drive-through land to speak with a teller in person may continue do so during normal business hours.

This investment has additional impact in Blairsville, as this new offering will be staffed by virtual tellers that are based in the company’s Blairsville Operations Center. Additional employees have been added to support all UCB ITMs across the bank’s footprint.
